by Nazım Ofluoğlu 15 May 2024

As May brings warmer temperatures, it also heralds an increase in the diversity of marine life. During this season, the seas come alive with a variety of fish, including lobster, sea bass, red mullet, sole, swordfish, mackerel, scallop, shrimp, and scorpionfish. Moreover, the warming weather marks the arrival of turbot and john dory, gradually making their way into the nets during this time of the year.

May, like April, is considered one of the less productive months. However, it still offers opportunities to catch fish like red mullet, sole, and mackerel. In May, the average water temperature in the Istanbul Strait ranges from 12 to 20 degrees Celsius.
